A child sees one card at the top and two or three below. They touch the one that matches. The app records whether they were right, how long they took and what help they had, and uses that to decide what comes next.

That is Interlaza: a way of practising early concepts — colors, shapes, objects, words — where every session is recorded and the difficulty rises one concept at a time rather than all at once. The task is called match-to-sample, and it is among the most studied ways of teaching a concept.

People who use it are usually in one of three places:

• Families and Instructors who want a clear structure for teaching early concepts without having to build one.
• Professionals who need each learner's data, a way to compare it, and to follow a session remotely.
• Researchers who need the trial-by-trial record and fine control over the parameters.

Interlaza runs in the browser and works offline: everything is stored on the device, and cloud backup is off until you turn it on. It can be added to the home screen and used like an app. The child-facing screen scales to whatever size it is given, so a phone works. A 10-inch tablet is the best size, because that is where the images render at full scale.

1. Sign in at interlaza.app.
2. Create a learner profile — just a name is enough to start. Details like school or class can be added later.
3. Pick a pathway from the library (for example Interlaza, Vocabulary, or RFT Foundations) and clone it.
4. Assign it to the learner and hand them the device.
5. Review data afterwards — every response is logged and summarized per concept.

You do not need to configure anything the first time. The defaults are set so the learner succeeds early and under little pressure, which is also what the app needs in order to start adapting on reliable data.

Three things happen behind every session, and none of them needs setting up.

At the start it is almost impossible to be wrong

On the first trials of a concept the wrong options are shown very faded, so the right one stands out on its own. As the child gets them right, the others come in gradually until every option looks the same. The child starts by succeeding, and the difficulty arrives once they have something to hold on to. The technical name for this is prompt fading, or errorless learning.

Each concept moves at its own pace

"Red" and "square" are not learned at the same moment, so each one keeps its own count. Instead of a single percentage, the app estimates the probability that this particular concept has been learned, giving recent answers more weight, and only calls it mastered once that probability is high. The model is called Bayesian Knowledge Tracing.

If the child finds a shortcut, the session notices

Always touching the same side, answering before looking, repeating the same mistake: these are ways of being right or wrong that say nothing about what the child knows. While the session runs, the app watches for those patterns, and when one appears it adjusts itself — spreading the answer across positions, slowing the pace — and tells the instructor without interrupting the child.

There are four paid plans. The child does exactly the same thing on all four: the practice and the way it adapts do not change. What changes is how many learners fit and how much you can adjust yourself.

• Family — one learner, template-based pathways, simple review screen.
• Professional — multiple learners, analytics dashboard, remote supervision, AI-generated summaries, webhooks.
• Researcher — up to 25 learners, trial-by-trial export, custom dimensions, full expert mode.
• Institution — everything above plus organization-level administration. Pricing on request.

During the testing phase, until 30 November 2026, every plan is free and no payment is asked. Once billing starts, each paid plan will begin with a 14-day free trial. If that trial ends without a subscription, the account keeps all data but is switched to a read-only Free tier. You can reactivate any time and pick up exactly where you left off.

Sessions, learner profiles and results are written to your device the moment they happen, and that is where they stay. If you have turned cloud backup on, they also sync to a private Supabase project under your account whenever you are online; if you have not, they never leave the device. Nothing is shared with third parties for advertising — we do not sell data. That arrangement — the device first, the cloud afterwards and only if you want it — is called offline-first.

Exports

From any learner screen you can export results as JSON or CSV. Researcher plans can export the full trial log — one row per response.

Deletion

From Settings → Privacy you can permanently delete your account. This removes every record in the cloud and triggers a local wipe the next time the device goes online.

Compliance

Interlaza is built to make GDPR and — for family accounts with minors — COPPA obligations easier to meet: local-first storage, optional cloud backup that is off by default, EU hosting, and export and erasure you can run yourself. The obligations themselves sit with the adult account holder, which is what the privacy policy sets out.
