How to use them
Cut out one routine, not all 54 cards. Four or five steps is enough. A twelve-step board does not get read, it gets ignored.
Show the board at the start, not when something goes wrong. A board that only comes out during a meltdown ends up meaning that something is wrong.
Use the same set at home and at school. Two different sets for the same thing make your child learn it twice.
Take a step out once it runs without being looked at. The goal is a routine that holds without the cards.
Photographs or drawings?
The cards in this PDF are photographs, and a single sheet is drawn. That is not an oversight: a drawing is a summary. It takes the color, the brand and the size off a toothbrush and keeps the shape — which only helps a child who already recognizes what is being summarized.
So the usual order is the real object, then a photograph — better still, one of yours — and the drawing last. The sheet "The morning, in drawings" carries the same six steps so you can see the jump and decide when to make it.
Print it and photocopy it as often as you like, at home, at school or in your practice. It may not be resold or included in a paid resource. The photographs and drawings come from the Interlaza library.
